Antigone 27/09

Rehearsal for Antigone

We rehearsed our piece for half hour before we all performed our pieces to the class.

We were given the following feedback
- Good physicality throughout our full performance
- Work on keeping our eye lines up and looking at the audience
- Creon should walk up to the audience at the point when he doesn't have any lines and mock Antigone and Ismene when they are speaking to each other

My own feedback
- I need to work more on my physicality with my inner monologue when I am not speaking. I want to include interaction to the audience within it.
- Also we need to look at our spacings and try and use some of the dead space in front of us by bringing certain parts closer to the audience

What to do next lesson?
We want to separate Antigone and Ismene after their chunk of dialogue. This will show how they are feeling pulled apart by their own actions but still angry at each other. We could do this by having Creon go into the middle of them because he is the one that has triggered it.
Also we didn't get round to adding it in today but we want to have Creon to walk up to Antigone when he says the line "Antigone must die" He should get very close and loom over the top.
Finally when Creon says "other fields for him to plough" it has a nasty sexist/sexual meaning and so we should play around with the way it is said.
